If you've ever wanted to rewind the twitch stream, the long-awaited feature is finally available. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy announced that there were added pause and rewind options this week, with a few exceptions.
Clancy announced In live broadcast (pass edge), and noted that it is currently limited to channels that Twitch Turbo subscribers or users subscribe separately. However, it is not available on mobile devices yet.
“This is a feature I've been expecting us to leave,” Clancy said. “It keeps the audience in touch when they stop or rewind. The chat continues to stay live, so you can see the hype and learn about what's going on in the live stream. The idea is that you're still there, you can catch up and come back.”
Twitch streaming also must activate the rewind and pause options at its end, and the feature is limited to users associated with or partnering with Twitch.
Clancy said the feature will eventually be added to mobile devices and will be launched in phases on Twitch in the future. One of the reasons Clancy stated is that the feature is not immediately involved is that Twitch wants to ensure it is not available to avoid ads on the platform. He also said that due to rights issues, DJ channels cannot be rewindled.
