Xbox chief feels 'very good' about new ROG Ally handheld's $1,000 price tag

The new ROG Xbox Ally X and its sibling, the handheld gaming computer ROG Xbox Ally, are now available, but the new generation of mobile gaming is proving to be quite pricey. The Ally In a new interview, Xbox president Sarah Bond talked about the hardware's pricing – which she said is determined by manufacturer Asus – and how Microsoft believes it accurately reflects the value of the new devices.

Bond added that pre-release sales reinforce Microsoft's belief that gaming should be more like entertainment because it can be accessed from anywhere. “You should be able to play any game you want on any device with anyone,” Bond said.

So far, the reception to the Xbox ROG Ally device has been mixed. Critics praised it as technically impressive, but its software was a disappointment. “For some, Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X will certainly make sense, but for most, there are a lot of hurdles to overcome with a handheld device,” Tamoor Hussain wrote in a GameSpot article.
