Where is our Mario Kart World review?
Blog Andrew Joseph 04 Jun , 2025 0

Driver, prepare your A button as Mario Kart World's countdown clock is finally about to tick! Unfortunately, Nintendo chose not to send Switch 2 with any early coverage, so my comments are still adjusting the garage. But the good news is that I've done it with Mario Kart World twice and when this post was published, I've probably stood in line to pick up my copy so I can jump right in. (sorry, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tourbut you have to wait longer to earn my $10. )
you can Read my thoughts on the world recently Watch from the preview earlier this week, but I also wanted to take a moment to briefly share who I am and why I was assigned to this comment. (Those who have been watching our video ending comments may have seen us there also share some context about the tastes and history of reviewers.) Earlier this year, I took over IGN's hosting duties Nintendo Voice Chat Podcastand I've been covering Nintendo for about a decade. I've also been doing more and more Nintendo reviews for IGN Super Mario Party Jamboree and Paper Mario: A thousand-year-old door last year.
I'm the same one, too Huge Mario Kart fan. I'm not sure if there is a video game franchise and I've spent more time playing than that. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe It's my favorite entries – and my top 10 favorite games of all time – I recorded over 500 hours of track time alone. This doesn't even count the Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, and I'm proud to be one of the few Wii U owners of that time at the 2014 launch. (Does of us!) With gorgeous artistic directions, amazing track designs and impressive content (including the return of f-Zero!), the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe feels like the finish line of the franchise hitting a higher or invalid linear Mario Kart, which started with Super Nintendo on Super Nintendo, so I was so excited to start this all-round thing instead of standing out on the entire product.
Apart from that, my favorite is Mario Kart: Double Dash! Mario Kart 64, these are the two I spent the most time playing with friends and family. Double Dash's two-character mechanic is so explosive, and the 64 is an undeniable classic, but I'll also shout out to the Mario Kart 7 of 3DS, which I believe is the most underrated entry in the series. I've always loved playing Mario in Mario Kart, which has caused some of my friends to call me crazy – but I'm looking forward to a game to be the new-looking donkey in the world.
As I mentioned, I do get a bit of a start here, as I've played the healthy amount of Mario Kart world on Nintendo Preview Events. I've gone Switch 2 and Mario Kart is the same day they revealed directlyeven though the initial demo was rather limited, I was interested in what I saw from the new Knockout Tour mode. But earlier this week we posted my impressions from the stronger Mario Kart World Preview event where I couldn't avoid using the release version. You can check out my last preview while waiting for the full review, but I said, “I believe the exciting racing of the Mario Kart world will start Nintendo's eighth generation, even if I haven't sold in its open world exploration.” The combination of hands-on finishing time means I've been logged in for about eight hours of gameplay, so after the '2' flash flash I can press the metaphorical A button to make the line stand out. I hope to get our finals before the end of next week, with a scoring comment.
I'll even comment from the floor IGN LIVE 2025This happened June 7-8 in the magic box in downtown Los Angeles. A lot of tons happened in the show, you can Let's ignite your life The opportunity to be part of the review process by playing with me. We will have an official “Game with IGN” setup that includes Mario Kart World, where you can compete with IGN editors like me, our co-founder Peer Schneider and many others – if you see me in the showroom, you can guide your inner Pokémon coach and challenge me to compete. (Once a stranger locks your eyes, that's how it works.
You can look forward to some of the latest ideas for the Mario Kart world in the coming days – and, if you manage to secure the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, I'll see you on the road to open!
