'What will leak? Everything” – Battlefield 6 developers insist that they don't want the game to suffer from leaks, but getting feedback from players “has to get any price”

We asked technical director Christian Buhl and senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson about their way of leaking Battlefield 6 in a recent interview. Buhl asserted that the Ripple Effect team “don’t want to leak” but admitted that BF Studios’ desire to thrive from player feedback led to some necessary sacrifices.
“We actually thought about the discussion a year or two,” Buhl explained. “I think it's probably about two years ago, about preventing leaks and how much we're going to do to get the game in front of the players. We made a very deliberate decision that we're going to be very biased to put things in front of the players and get feedback, even if we know things will leak.”
EA and the four entities that make up BF Studio – Chain Reaction, Dice, Motivation Studio and Standard Game – Know that Battlefield 6 requires running to avoid further contamination Franchise already has a high reputation. Feedback from players has been an important part of the team’s foundation for years, but they are not very naive in the idea that direct communication with fans may lead to official materials being accessible to the public early.
“I remember, one time, I gave a big speech that said, 'What will leak? Everything.' Like, we just started with the assumption that something leaked,” Buhl added. “Now, it's clear that we don't want things to leak. We're not looking for leaks, but we know that the most important thing is to get the game in front of the players, get real feedback from the players, get real telemetry, real data, and have to get any price, including facts, including leaks.”
Buhl said BF Studios makes it harder for people to leak things, but sets their eyes on a goal: “put the game in front of players even if we know it will leak eventually.” We'll know how it becomes when the October 10 release date is PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S launch.
