Warner Bros. is lobbying for 'Minecraft' movie to win Oscar

Warner Bros. is launching a promotional campaign for this year's Minecraft movie to win some Oscars. Warner Bros. has launched Minecraft's For Your Consideration websitewhich lists all the categories the studio thinks Minecraft should be considered for.
These include numerous categories, including Best Picture, Best Director for Jared Hess and Best Actor for Jack Black. Warner Bros. also nominated Jason Momoa and Sebastian Henson for Best Supporting Actor, and Emma Miles, Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Coolidge for Best Supporting Actress.
Warner Bros. is also campaigning for Minecraft's voter-chosen awards for Best Casting, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Original Score, Best Original Song and Best Adapted Screenplay.
In addition to “Minecraft,” WB is urging voters to consider films such as “Arms,” ”Superman,” “The Sinner” and “Mickey 17” for inclusion in the next Academy Awards ceremony in March 2025. Nominations will be announced in January 2026.
Movie studios like Warner Bros. are known to spend money on Academy Awards campaigns under the “For Your Consideration” heading. The Minecraft movie may not be immediately considered an Oscar contender, but Warner Bros. may feel differently. Now that the Minecraft movie is available on streaming and home video, spending money on “For Your Consideration” ads could also help it find repeat viewers or new viewers.
