Since our planner is divided by game, you don't have to worry about accidentally including a Pokémon you can't actually catch. In addition to this, we've also included full movesets for each Pokémon and every item they can hold. You can even try using Pokémon's EVs and IVs. Combining all these features in one place means you can easily assemble a team to suit your purposes.

getting Started

The first step to using the Pokémon Planner is to select the game you want to form a team with. You can easily do this by selecting the drop-down menu next to “Change Game” at the top of the planner.

Before we go any further, however, it's important to point out that if you want to save your planned team, you'll need to log into Pokémon Planet. Best to do this before continuing! You can find the “Login” button in the upper right corner of the page, and there is also an option to create an account. We'll cover the specifics of rescuing your team further into this guide.

Add Pokémon

Once you've chosen a game to play, it's time to add the desired Pokémon to your team. To do this, click on one of the six “Select Pokémon” boxes to open a menu with all the Pokémon in the selected game.

Don't worry, we've made sure that only the Pokémon that appear in each game's Pokédex will appear. This means that, as long as you choose the right game, you won't encounter any unavailable Pokémon. Keep in mind that if you're building a team for a version title, such as Pokémon Crimson, you'll want to keep an eye out for any version-exclusive Pokémon.

There are three main ways you can search for Pokémon – simply scroll down the list, search by name, or filter by type. There's also the option to choose from multiple types, which is handy if you're looking for a dual-type Pokémon. Selecting the “Mega Pokémon” option also allows you to see only the Mega Pokémon that exist in the selected game. However, keep in mind that Mega Pokémon are only available in select Pokémon games.

Since all Pokémon from the game of your choice are available – including pre-evolved Mons, Legendary and Mythical Pokémon – you're free to enter any Pokémon you like. This could be your current team, your end goal, or a Pokémon you're considering adding. Whatever you choose, I recommend adding six Pokémon so you have a complete team to play with.

After selecting all the Pokémon you have or want on your team, it's time to start filling in the details for each Pokémon. This includes adding their moves, stats, and any items they may be holding. Let's start with the statistics.

Add statistics

Each Pokémon's stats section can be found on the left side of the planner, and each Pokémon's base stats will always be displayed. You can also add its current statistics, including EV and IV.

The first step in adding a Pokémon's stats is to select its level. The Pokémon Planner selects each Pokémon's level to be 100 by default, which is very convenient for organizing endgame teams.

However, if you want to enter your Pokémon's current level, you can do so by selecting the number “100” and changing it or moving the blue slider below that number. Changing a Pokémon's level from 100 will automatically change all of its current statistics (at the bottom of this section) to the level of your choice.

Now it's time to sort out EVs and IV cars, and this is where things get a little complicated. This is because both are considered hidden statistics, meaning you can't see their exact values ​​in the game. When entering both into the Pokémon Planner, you have two options – either enter the EV/IV you want, or try to figure out what they mean in the game. If you choose the last option, keep in mind that the IV Judge feature usually doesn't unlock until the end of the game.

Once you decide which option to use, you can enter it using the middle blue slider or by typing EV directly in the left column. Since each Pokémon can only have 510 EVs, the Pokémon Planner will help prevent you from exceeding that number.

For the IV, you need to change the number in the right column. (Remember – you're unlikely to have a Pokémon with 31 perfect IVs for every stat.)

Changes you make to view values ​​will be reflected in the statistics layout at the bottom of the screen.

Add action

Adding a Pokémon's moves is easy. Just select the “Add Mobile” button under the “Mobile” subheading on the right side of the page. This will open a menu with all the moves this Pokémon can use in the game of your choice. Here you can search for a specific action or just scroll down the menu. The moves that Pokémon can learn from TM will also be revealed!

Remember – each Pokémon can only know four moves at a time, and we adhere to this rule in Pokémon Planner. If you want to delete a move, hover your cursor over the move and select the “Change” option.

Add item

To add an item, select Add item. This will display a list of every item available in the game you are building a team for. You can scroll through the list or search for what you're looking for.

Once you find the right item, just click on it and it will be added to your Pokémon!

Now you just need to repeat this process with all the other Pokémon in your team.

Team Defense and Team Coverage Explained

Once you've filled out all of your team's information, check out the “Team Defense” and “Team Coverage” sections.

team defense will give you an idea of ​​what types your team currently contains (based on Pokémon and moves) and what weaknesses you need to watch out for. A blue line means you've included those Pokémon types, while a red line means one of the Pokémon you've included is weak to that type.

Team coverageAlso, tell you which Pokémon types your team has an advantage against. The more blue mini-attacks underneath a certain type, the more Pokémon you have on your team that can counter it. If a certain type doesn't have dashes at all, then you might want to consider changing your team!

How to save your team

To save your planned team, you first need to log into Pokémon Planet. You can do this using the “Login” button in the upper right corner of the screen. After that, if you are a new user, please log in or create an account!

Next, click the “Manage Team” button, located above the Pokémon you entered for your team. Here you will be able to name your current team, save it, create folders to organize your teams, and create new teams as well.

To save a team, first give it a name by typing in the box containing “Name your team.” Once you're satisfied, select “Save Current Team.” This will automatically save your team to the folder you currently selected.

Once you've saved your team, you can use the options on the right to change its name, copy or delete it. You can also move teams to new folders by dragging and dropping.

A note about hiding statistics

Each Pokémon's EV and IV are considered hidden statistics. This is because, while you can understand what they are, you can never see the exact numbers for each one.

It's also worth noting that the third generation changed the way electric and IV cars work. The following explanations follow these rules and therefore do not apply to Gen 1 and Gen 2 games.

EV – Effort Value – corresponds to each of the six primary statistics. Each Pokémon has a total of 510 EVs spread across these stats, with one statistic being able to have up to 252 EVs. Depending on the game, various items such as vitamins, berries, or feathers can be used to train or deplete EVs. Depending on the game, you should be able to view your Pokémon's EV on the Pokémon summary's stats page. Keep in mind that you won't be able to use the exact value.

Each main stat also has an IV (Individual Value), which is calculated based on the Pokémon's base stats, properties, and EV. Generally, the IV cannot be changed unless you use super training to maximize the IV. IV ranges from 0 to 31 – 0 being the worst and 31 being perfect. Every Pokémon game has a Judgment feature that can be unlocked, usually at the end of the game, which will let you know what the Pokémon's IV is.
