During an investor presentation earlier today, Ubisoft showed off Teammates, a new development gaming experience that leverages generative artificial intelligence. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot also described the emergence of generative AI in games as “a revolution.”
Guillemot says: “Generative AI will be as big for gaming as the shift to 3D” game files). “We've made tremendous progress in applying Gen AI to high-value use cases, delivering tangible benefits to our players and teams… This is as significant for our industry as the shift to 3D. We have everything we need to lead on this.”
Teammates is developed by the team behind Neo NPC. The company also said the demo was intended to prove “that generative AI-driven gameplay can shape a new generation of more interactive and engaging games.”

A prototype of the game is currently being tested by a small number of players. Teammates is a first-person shooter, but its AI tools are said to allow it to adapt to the player's voice commands, allowing NPCs to respond dynamically in real time.
“It's really about trying a whole new way of creating interactive stories,” said Virginie Mosser, the game's narrative director. “Our role is to give meaning to the AI, to narrate it, and to ensure that logic does not replace soul. We designed Teammates to leave room for player creativity and find a balance between emotion and unpredictability.”
Teammates includes a companion character named Jasper, who is said to be able to help players overcome obstacles and provide tips or strategies. Conceptually, this isn't all that different from other NPCs in numerous games. What stands out about Jasper is said to be his ability to interact with and react directly to players.
Teammates developers note that it has a purpose-built application programming interface (API) that utilizes guardrails to protect players from AI-driven hallucinations and “help control its power in the service of human creativity and gameplay.” The company also describes Teammates as an experiment that “serves as both a playable prototype and a test bed for the underlying technology.”
Ubisoft says its new “creative house” operating model will Unveiling in January 2026. Earlier this week, Ubisoft apologized to players Includes AI artwork from Anno 117: Pax Romana. The replacement image looks like an AI version, minus some of the people with extra fingers or distorted faces.
