Twin Peaks is one of the most memorable TV series of all time. Created by the late David Lynch, who died earlier this year, Twin Peaks was a huge hit in the early '90s and on Showtime in 2017, when Showtime revived the groundbreaking series for a third season.
As mentioned before, Z to A is a one-stop shop. You'll get all 30 episodes of the original two seasons, the aforementioned 1992 prequel movie, and the 2017 18-episode revival that aired on Showtime. It's 48 episodes of great television and a great feature film rolled into one.
- Season 1 (1990) — 8 episodes
- Season 2 (1990-91) — 22 episodes
- Season 3 (2017) — 18 episodes
- Stand By Me (1992) – Prequel Movie
You'll also get a long list of special features, including 4K versions of the original series pilot and Twin Peaks: Limited Event Series Episode 8. Here are the highlights:
Twin Peaks: From Z to A Features
- The Lost Pieces: Fire Walk With Me Deleted/Alternate Scenes (90 minutes)
- Behind the Scenes: The Making of Twin Peaks: Limited Event Series
- Complete versions of all Roadhouse Bar music performances
- A conversation with Kyle MacLachlan and Cheryl Lee
- Join Kimmy and Harry on the couch
- 4K version of the original series pilot and Twin Peaks: Limited Event Series Episode 8
- Other special features from previous Twin Peaks home editions
In total, there are over 20 hours of Twin Peaks bonus content. It is worth noting that the packaging of the reprint of “Twin Peaks: From Z to A” is different from the 2019 original. The new version comes in a plastic box rather than the premium folding box of the original and lacks a collectible art print. This cost-saving measure will likely make it easier to produce sets, which will hopefully mean reprints will take longer to print. It's no longer a collectible like the original version, but it does offer an affordable way to watch the entire series on Blu-ray.
$25 (originally $50)
The 4K Blu-ray version of Fire Walk with Me includes 4K UHD and 1080p Blu-ray discs. Both discs include the film and all the special features outlined below.

The Criterion edition of Fire Walk with Me is a great display piece and includes an exclusive essay booklet. The actual disc content is the same as in From Z to A, but you won't be able to watch the movie in 4K unless you buy Criterion's standalone version.
Firewalk With Me Join The Criterion Collection on Standard Blu-ray Back in 2017.
$47 (originally $77)
“Twin Peaks: The Television Collection” will be released on Blu-ray in 2019. Until the release of the Z to A reprint earlier this year, this 16-disc collection was the default choice for anyone who wanted to own the series in its 1080p resolution physical format. It includes 30 episodes of original programming and 18 episodes of a limited event series.
The TV series lacks some special features from “From Z to A” and there is no “Walking with Fire” prequel movie. But if you pick up one of the Criterion Collection's editions of the film, the omissions here aren't that big of an issue.
One thing The Television Collection has in its repackaged version of From Z to A is the box art and packaging. The TV series definitely looks better than the oversized plastic casing of From Z to A.
$30 (originally $51)
“Twin Peaks: The Television Collection” is also available in a 17-disc DVD box set to match the Blu-ray version. Some fans may prefer to watch the show, or at least the first two seasons, on a CRT television in 480p resolution. To be clear, if you don't have a TV that plays DVDs well, we wouldn't recommend it, as the image often looks terrible when watching DVDs on modern monitors.
$24 (originally $40)
Season 3 also received a Blu-ray reprint in February. The 18-episode Showtime revival (often called a “return” or “limited event series”) is available for $24 (originally $40).
In addition to all Showtime episodes, you'll get a variety of featurettes, a behind-the-scenes photo gallery, and video from the Twin Peaks Season 3 panel at Comic-Con.
If you buy From Z to A or The Television Collection, there's really no reason to buy them separately, as all 18 episodes of the Showtime series are included in these sets. Unlike the Criterion Collection version of Fire Walk with Me, you don't get any fancy packaging, bonus inserts, or higher resolution to justify buying “the same thing” twice.
