TRON: Catalyst developer Bithell Games lays off “majority” of its full-time employees after failing to secure new projects

British independent developer Bithell Games abandons the “majority” of full-time employees weeks after its Time-Loop Action Game Tron: CatalystAfter failing to land a new large-scale project.
This is equivalent to 11 team members being laid off, Bithell Games boss Mike Bithell is on the statement Posting to social media, and uncertain future of what the studio will do next.
“Before our recent game release, it was clear that we were not immune to the challenges faced by many game development teams seeking to fund partners in 2024 and 2025,” Bithell wrote. “Luckily, we have been able to communicate these challenges ahead of time and work with affected employees to mitigate the departure as much as possible through severance packages.”
Bithell Games previously worked on Tron: Identity, a mix of puzzle games and visual novels, the concept of the studio working with Disney’s sci-fi franchise.
Prior to participating in these games, the studio became famous for its reputation as tactical RPG John Wick Hex, after the independent head and number of independent pampered Thomas.
“It's important to point out that this is an incredibly talented team of people,” Bithell continued. “If you're a developer reading this book and are hiring, then anyone of the affected people will be a great addition to your studio. If we can help you get in touch, please lend a helping hand.
“This news will not affect the availability of our existing self-published games and the ongoing support for them. We are very grateful to our audience and hope that your interest in our work follows various team members as they play other roles. BithellGames has always been defined and promoted by our people. Today, we are less.”
