Andrezj Sapkowski, the creator of the wizard, said he regretted the Witcher Schools in one of his books, and CD Projekt's Witcher Edit Games has expanded significantly since then.
Writing on Q&A redditSapkowski said he singled out the “Wolf School” in the last wish, a short collection of stories that is a “not worthy” inclusion, and he is now considering deleting future prints of the book.
But for many of the Wizard fans, who learn about the franchise from the existing video game trilogy, Witcher Schools is now a big part of the series, and CD Projekt has evolved into a key part of its knowledge.
CD Projekt has identified at least seven guild schools: Wolf (to which Hero Geralt belongs), Cat, Griffin, Bear, Viper, Viper, Madino and Crane. Everybody in every school wears a medal to show that they are – indeed, The Studio's First Wizard Trailer 4 CD Projekt later confirmed it was a new school medal, sparking huge speculation among fans Previously unknown Bobcat School.
But while video game fans have always loved the series, classifying the wizards as Hogwarts-style houses, it’s safe to say that Sapkowski isn’t on the boat.
“A sentence about some schools of wolf mysteriously enters the last wish,” Sapkowski wrote. “I later thought it was not worth developing and the narrative was incorrect, or even bad for the plot.
“But that sentence is enough. Adapters, especially video game people, cling to the idea with a huge attitude and multiply these 'wizard schools'. It's totally unnecessary.”
Sapkowski continued that even though the knowledge of CD Projekt invention remains, he would love to simply delete the reference to Wolf School from his own book Canon. Additionally, the author suggests that he can expand the matter in his future work – fans suggest that he may deliberately curb the concept of his own personal vision.
“I'm still not sure how to deal with this situation,” Sapkowski concluded. “Perhaps, taking the path with minimal resistance, I'll remove sentences about 'school' from a future version of the last wish.
“Or, maybe I want to expand and clarify these issues in some way in the subsequent books? Maybe I will shed light on the Wizard Medal, its meaning and connection to a particular individual? There are many possibilities, and the sky is the limit.”
Sapkowski's comments come with his latest wizard novel “Arrival” Crow's Crossroadsnearly a year after its debut in Poland, in English. Crossroads of the Crow is a new independent prequel novel in The Witch Legend that takes place decades before the game and the main novel Legend. It follows the teenage Geralt from Rivia in Kaer Morhen, and his early steps as a wizard.
