'The Sims' creator exits EA partnership over acquisition concerns

“Due to recent sales, I have asked to leave the EA Creator Network and I will not be purchasing or producing content for any future releases,” McNamara wrote.

“I think taking this stance is the right choice for me personally, but I won't judge anyone else's decision. I have the privilege of saying I'm leaving with such ease. I hope the sale goes through, and if not, I hope those who remain put pressure on EA to maintain the level of inclusivity that The Sims has always had.”

EA released a statement on the matter via The Sims' official social media accounts. In a statement, the company insisted, “We deeply respect that everyone experiences The Sims in their own way and makes the choices that work for them. Whether you choose to play, create, or share, we're excited to be a part of your journey. Our mission, values, and commitment remain unchanged. The Sims will always be a space for you to express your authentic self.”
