The lineup of Invincible VS Cecil is expanded, and the story mode previews the arrival of new characters that have not yet appeared anywhere in the Invincible universe.

Invincible VS An eighth playable character has just been announced: Cecil.
Quarter Up, the developer of the 3v3 tag fighting game based on Robert Kirkman's Invincible, has revealed the identity of intelligence agent Cecil Stedman in the gameplay video below. Check IGN caught up with Kirkman and the developers of Quarter Up to learn more about how Cecil works and Invincible VS Story Mode.
Cecil's announcement means we now know the eight playable characters in VS, voiced by the actors who played them in the popular Prime Video animated series. They are Mark Grayson (Invincible), Atomic Eve, Bulletproof, Tula, Rex Sprowder, Battle Beast, The Almighty, and now Cecil.

Cecil is a fan-favorite character from the Invincible TV series and comic books, and is one of the most popular playable characters. Most often heard in Mark's headset, Cecil enters battle in Invincible with special weapons, including a plasma pistol, projectile launcher, and grenades to keep his opponents at arm's length. His broad playstyle combined with tactical combat allows him to play a cat-and-mouse game with his enemies. Want more? Cecil can also summon an unlimited supply of Renemans for backup; with his “Hammer” – a massive orbital laser – he becomes a devastating force on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Quarter Up talks more about Invincible VS Story Mode, a standalone narrative mode set in the Invincible universe. The series is co-written by “Invincible” TV show co-executive producer and writer Helen Leigh, “Invincible” narrative director Mike Rogers and Kirkman. There will be over 25 minutes of custom animation in the story mode, “like a special extended episode of the show,” featuring all of the playable characters announced so far.
Interestingly, the story mode previews the arrival of a brand new character who has yet to appear anywhere in the Invincible universe. Quarter Up didn't reveal who it was, but confirmed that Cecil plays a key role in the story.
“‘Invincible’ has always been about compelling storytelling, but also about bloody beatdowns and battles that are impossible to look away from,” said Kirkman.
“It was important to me to capture the essence of the comics and TV series and bring key characters into the game. With Story Mode, we want fans to feel like they're back in the show, but experiencing the universe in a whole new way.”
Invincible VS will launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Players can register for Invincible VS Closed Alpha, which will launch later this year, here.
