The latest Super Mario Galaxy movie poster is full of Super Mario Odyssey vibes

We just saw a brand new poster for Super Mario Galaxy The Movie, and it's giving off huge… Super Mario Odyssey vibes?
A new poster released today shows Mario and Luigi standing in what is clearly a sand kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey, complete with inverted pyramids, Tostarena buildings, and Day of the Dead-inspired Tostarena people.
We do know that the Kingdom of Sand will appear in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie in some way, as we briefly saw in the trailer released earlier this week. In a brief shot, we see Mario and Luigi riding motorcycles through the desert wearing the outfits shown above, before shooting up sand dunes and revealing the same inverted pyramid in the valley below.
At the time, however, it seemed like this was just part of a larger montage of areas the brothers might visit during their galactic adventures. Dedicating an entire poster to it raises questions about whether Super Mario Galaxy The Movie will feature the story of Super Mario Odyssey. Will we see more kingdoms? Maybe Kapi?
That said, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and this new sequel as we know it does play fast and loose with the Mario games they borrow from. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is packed with references and doesn't really follow the loose plot of any of the games (like they are), and we already know that the Super Mario Galaxy Movie will feature Bowser Jr., complete with his Super Mario Sunshine paintbrush. we even Suspected He's Using Miracle Powers from Super Mario Bros. Miracle!
this The latest trailer for the Super Mario Galaxy movie gave us a ton of new information about the film, including two new actors joining the cast: Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Steele Jr. Waiting to watch Yoshi's performancealthough.
“Super Mario Galaxy The Movie” will be released in the United States on April 3, 2026
