The 10 Best Pokémon Cards to Consider Buying During TCGplayer’s Black Friday Sale
Blog Andrew Joseph 29 Nov , 2025 0
TCGPlayer is having a blast with their Black Friday and Cyber Monday Cyber Weekend Events.
Starting November 28th at 9am ET, trainers will receive 10% store credit back on their TCGPlayer account on any purchase.
This promotion will last until December 1 at 11pm ET. So if you've been waiting for your favorite Chase cards to drop in value so you can snap them up, this is it.
TCGPlayer runs one or two sales every year during major holidays like Black Friday and Halloween, but this 10% points offer comes as the Pokémon TCG is looking for new floors.
One look no further than the latest Pokémon TCG series, Phantasmal Flames, makes this clear. But more on that later, long story short, this is a great time to pick up the chase cards.
But which chase cards should you buy during TCGPlayer's Cyber Weekend? Well, I've carefully selected some of the best cards from the Mega Evolution, Crimson and Violet, and Pokémon TCG Sword and Shield eras for you to enjoy.
The most noteworthy modern Chase cards
Crimson & Violet is one of the best eras of chase cards with multiple explosive suits in recent memory, and yes, I know Evolved Skies in Sword & Shield is crazy, more on that later. 151, Black Bolt/White Flare, Destined Rivals, Prismatic Evolutions, and Twilight Masquerade collectively have the most expensive chase cards of this era.
That's great, but it also means spending more money to grab the best hands. Then in the latest era, Mega Evolution is off to a great start with its base set and Phantom Fire expansion pack, which brings back Pokémon's most popular gimmicks from the main game. There are a lot of things to focus on, as the carousel above is proof of that, but just focus on what stands out to you and what fits your budget.
So, the 5 most valuable cards here are Umbreon ex SIR, Mega Charizard X ex SIR, Mega Charizard X ex Gold Hyper Rare, Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex SIR, and Mega Lucario ex Gold Hyper Rare. Although the value of the Mega Evolution sets has dropped significantly since their launch, they still feature some of the most valuable cards in the modern Pokémon TCG.
Umbreon will never be taken away from the number one spot, not even Charizard can, but this will be the perfect time to snap it up on TCGPlayer. Let's do some quick math; 10% of $1,294.99 is $129.49, which will be the lowest cash you'll ever receive on a Sunbreon. This means you can attribute it to the Roaring Moon ex SIR in the same set and buy it for $42.14 instead of $171.63. Oh, and you'll also get another 10% cash back on that purchase, which works out to $17.16. This is the best snow globe I have ever seen.
But even with cash back, the Sunbreon still costs a fortune no matter how good the deal is, so let's pick out a few things that your significant other won't kill you (that much). Greninja Sir ex from The Twilight Masquerade absolutely pops and is easily one of the best pieces of art from the Scarlet and Violet era. While you might think $325 is too high, just a week or two ago this card was priced at $380. So, getting $32.50 as 10% cash back effectively gets this card for $292.50. Now this is a great investment and priced like new.
The best scarlet and purple promotional cards
The Age of Scarlet and Violet is also an age where promotional cards are very powerful. This means anything from STAFF Stamp Cards to Pokémon Center Stamp Cards in exclusive Elite Trainer boxes for Pokémon Centers.
One of my favorites from the Crimson and Violet era is the Pardia Evolution Pokémon Center-exclusive Elite Training Box (deep breath). It features Pikachu and the Paldea starter Pokémon together in a “let's go buy a suit” pose that has the power to cause actual cardiac arrest. A stunning card.
Now considering that the sealed version of the exclusive Elite Trainer box currently sells for $500, the card's $119 price tag is actually pretty cheap. When you consider that you get $11.90 in cash back when you purchase the card, it's not a bad deal at all.
Keeping with the Pikachu theme, one of my favorite promos from Scarlet and Violet that I actually own is Pikachu wearing a gray felt hat. This price is even higher than ETB’s current price of $547.99, and is down significantly from around $647 a few days ago. I've previously written about the full story behind this infamous cardbut now's a great time to get this card because you'll get an extra $54.79 in cash back this weekend.
The Best Sword and Shield Chase Cards You Can't Miss
Yes, we are about to discuss the evolving sky, well done waiting until the end of the article. I remember walking into the store at launch and not being able to purchase the Evolving Skies boosters, premium series, and elite training boxes, which were often priced below MSRP. Frankly, the value of this set is insane compared to previous availability.
It's home to most of the most valuable Sword and Shield era chase cards, including Moonbreon, Rayquazza VMAX Alt Art, Umbreon V Alt Art, Dragonite V Alt Art, most of the Eeveelution VMAX Alt Arts, and the stunning Rayquaza V Alt Complete Art.
Sorry, I'm just crazy about listing cards, but that's why a booster box alone costs over $2,000. Of course, you also get $200 cash back, which is awesome, but just wow. If you want to grab some big chase cards during TCGPlayer's Cyber Weekend, start with Evolved Skies.
Sword and Shield isn't just a set, Fusion Strike, Lost Origins, and Silver Storm also have some god-level Holy Grails. For example, Gengar VMax's Secret Alt Art currently sells for $730, which is more than double the price of the next Fusion Strike chase card, the Espeon VMAX Secret Alt Art, which currently sells for $329.58.
If you're looking for a great chase card that doesn't require remortgaging, look no further than Silver Tempest's Lugia V Alt Full Art. Besides how proud I am that I picked it up earlier this year for under $150, the card shows Lugia jumping out of the sea off a fisherman during a storm and it's amazing. Hands down the best Lugia Pokémon card ever.
TCGPlayersubscription
If you plan on grabbing multiple Pokémon cards during the sale, now is a great time to become a TCGPLayer subscriber. It costs $8.99 per month, and users enjoy free shipping and 1% cash back no matter the time of year.
While this climbs to 3% after a year of membership, subscribers will receive 13% cash back during Cyber Weekend in addition to the usual cash back. For long-term members, that probably equates to 16% cash back, which is frankly crazy.
