Follow the latest wave Border 4 Preview, transmission owner Randy Pitchford confirmed that a fan-requested feature will appear in the game when it launches in September. While the minimap won't be in the robbers, radar will make situational awareness of the battlefield easier.
In a lengthy threadPitchford talks about how fans asked Gearbox to add this feature to the game – a feature that many people from Europe, the United States and Asia preview tours are advocating.
“As the head of the developers and me, Steve Jones, and a few others – poked it with the producers, trying to figure out what it takes to add these features, and if we could ship them in time, something great happened,” Pitchford explained. “In the classic transmission style, we have the spirit of the people who built it, and, win, some developers came together and found some time in the margins of their schedule. Some transmission heroes did the transmission heroes did!”
Several gearbox employees “split” to work on the radar, and Pitchford said they managed to squeeze it into the game before doing some QA tests before launching. By default, radar will be by default when the game is launched and will not be available this weekend in Borderlands 4 builds on the Fest Showfloor of Borderlands fan. This is what it looks like in action:
