We're less than a month away from the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, amid all the turmoil surrounding pricing, tariffs, game key cards and which kind of chaos, a third-party publisher said it felt good about the console: Take-Two Interactive.
After the company's full-year earnings, CEO Strauss Zelnick answered questions about publishers' support for the Nintendo Switch 2, saying he felt “extremely optimistic” about Nintendo's new platform. In fact, he said Nintendo’s support for third-party publishers is better than in the past:
“We are launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, which is what I think is bigger than ever before, and the new Nintendo platform has a new Nintendo platform. Historically, it’s been a challenge to be a third party in the Nintendo business. I think Nintendo has been very good at solving this platform. Case by case, we obviously want to be the consumer position.”
Specifically, Take-Two will be Civilization 7 (June 5, Launch Day), NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (not sure which games, or when) and Borderlands 4 (September 12). Admittedly, these contents are not surprising, as Take-Two has released all four franchises on the Nintendo Switch. But the Zelnick's offer does make it sound like it might open the door in the future, especially from the back catalog of Take-Two. The GTA 6 may not advance, but maybe it's the GTA V, which is one of them?
We spoke directly with Zelnick, including discussions, before investors called on the company quarter GTA 6 development timeline, and Zelnick's idea In the game's recent Delayed until next year.
