NVIDIA's GeForce app now allows players to stream games to devices to take advantage of NVIDIA's powerful cloud hardware, but Steam Deck users have historically had to skip some basketballs to get it working. Today, NVIDIA finally launched a local Geforce Now app for Steam Deck.
exist Press release NVIDIA marks the release of the app, and GeForce now lets Steam Deck players leverage more powerful hardware and more advanced technical features instead of running locally on handheld. NVIDIA also noted that if you connect the Steam deck to your TV, GeForce now lets you play games at 4K/60fps.
Perhaps its most influential feature is that Geforce now enables you to play games that are almost (or entirely) lack of support or are incompatible with Steam Deck's Linux-based operating system due to performance issues. Destiny 2For example, running locally on Steam Deck will be blocked (unless you go through the process of installing Windows), but I confirm that it can now play through the native GeForce Now App.
Tested by edge It is recommended that GeForce will now allow you to maximize the display of settings in more games, including especially resource-intensive games. The most exciting thing for me is that just as someone playing most of my PC games on the steam deck, Verge's test confirms that playing with GeForce requires a Fraction The battery level of playing games locally on your handheld is probably due to the fact that the hardware of the steam deck only needs to handle the video stream rather than the entire game.
For those who might be new to the game streaming world, GeForce can now work by accessing many titles in the PC game library via remote computers running NVIDIA hardware. Subscriptions come in different levels; the cheapest is ad-supported, with longer access queues, and using low-end hardware, while premium membership uses machines with NVIDIA 4080 GPUs.
Geforce now arrives at an interesting steam deck when the hardware on that steam deck is a bit outdated. Originally released in early 2022Steam Deck has not received any upgrades to its specifications except for the OLED model launched by the end of 2023. Still, steam decks are popular and it has influenced other PC hardware companies to free up their own handpieces. Now, streaming more required games directly to Steam Deck through the official GeForce app may now help revitalize its role in the gaming ecosystem.
