According to reports Starfield For spring 2026, this will coincide with the new expansion.
according to mp1stStarfield was launched in 2025: “partially due to weak RPG sales, this is the first expansion of broken space.” Broken space was launched in September 2024 with “most” as “negative” steam user ratings followed by this year’s expansion as part of the annual release schedule.
IGN asked Bethesda to comment.
The PS5 launch will obviously coincide with Starfield's second expansion and other quality of life updates. MP1ST said with Elder Remaster Remaster Benefits from Elling Scrolls IV: Not Expected Announcement on Gamescom later this month.
The question of whether Bethesda may be able to step out of Starfield to focus on other franchises has been a topic since its release. June 2024, Bethesda insists it remains committed to supporting Starfieldand confirm that at least other stories will be released after the broken space. In an interview YouTube channel mrmattyplaysTodd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios said the developer’s goal is to release the annual story extension to “hope for a long time.”
But there has been little news since then, leading Starfield players to express their dissatisfaction on the game's future Bethesda communication level, The show that didn't appear on the Xbox Games showcase in June, this is some of the last straw.
Starfield became Bethesda's first brand new IP in 25 years in September 2023 and continues to attract 15 million players. However, this is not as well received as the studio's previous games in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series, and the Broken Space Expansion hasn't improved emotions.
Microsoft game owner Phil Spencer later revealed He talked to Bethesda Development Director Todd Howard about the release rhythm of Starfield Content. “Todd and I were talking about broken spaces,” Spencer said. “Starfield is a game I've invested a lot of hours and really loved, but they already have something to add features throughout the year, and then they expand. Some feedback on the expansion I think is: 'We want more features.' And he's like, “Well, should we wait to get the clothes car out?” ”
“So, I think you're trying to adjust the impact of development efforts and scaling. I think it's always balanced to manage games every month. But not every game will scale.”
Ultimately, however, the broken space has been criticized for lacking spatial content rather than ground content. Just like IGN in our Starfield Broken Space Review: “As far as I can tell there's absolutely nothing added for spacefarers other than now you have a way to legitimately acquire Va'ruun ships instead of stealing them from Zealots who attack you in space. That's fine, as an expansion doesn't always have to meaningfully expand every aspect of a game – but I was surprised that there wasn't at least a token feature thrown in for space jumpeys in an expansion with 'space' in the title.”
Last week, Bethesda finally broke the silence of the future Starfieldinsisting it is still being updated and will share details about the “exciting things” planned for the coming months.
Bethesda was severely affected by Microsoft's latest round of layoffs, with cuts from its London office and Zenimax Online Studios. Its unannounced MMORPG was cancelled and its senior studio head resigned.
