The outline produced by luxury art book publisher Taschen is packed with works by some of Hollywood's largest directors, behind-the-scenes details of the film's production and more.

This massive 1,396-page, two-roll set is edited by Lee Unkrich, Oscar Director at Pixar Films Toy Story 3 and Coco, as well as Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc. Co-director with Finding Nemo.

The first book in the series takes a written reflection on the film with the foreword of renowned director Steven Spielberg and the importance of its author JW Rinzler. You will also find insights from actors and crew based on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews with hundreds of hours of cast and crew.

The second book is an album with hundreds of photos, concept art, letters, an in-depth look at deleted scenes, and production documents that have never been seen from Kubrick's personal collection.

Both books were designed by M/M Paris to evoke the look and feel of Shining Set design and art directing.

Stanley Kubrick's Shining Outline was originally limited to 1,000 boxes as an exclusive collector in 2023, and the price was $2,500, but the price was still sold out at that price very quickly. Recent retail releases have been reconfigured to be smaller, though still huge, two-volume kits.

Shiny book series and Blu-ray deals

Glitter is often considered one of the best and most important films ever. Adapted from The King's novel has the same namethe 1980 film will star Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrence, a recovered alcoholic and aspiring writer who works in seasonal work as a winter caregiver at the Mountain Resort. Jack's wife Wendy – played by the late Shelley Duvall and son Danny (Danny Lloyd) accompanied him through the season, but initially a quiet winter vacation and fell into a psychological prison, which puts Jack into a violent mental crisis exacerbated by Jack's seemingly supernatural powers inside the hotel walls. While initial reviews of the time were mixed, Glitter attracted widespread critical appeal in the years since then and remained one of the most influential films in the horror genre. It is also one of the most notorious films of all time, with a difficult (even oppressive) story that intensifies the film’s myth.

If you haven't seen it Shiny Previous – or Mike Flanagan-directed sequel, Doctor sleeps– You can grab both Blu-ray on Amazon for about $20. Kubrick's movie has a lot of fans, but Stephen King isn't one of them. The novelist hates the adaptation of his novel, which is still one of the best books of the king today. His negative view of the film may have helped him decide to write the miniseries that aired on ABC in 1997. The TV series received reactions from critics and fans at about 4.5 hours in about three-length plots. Appreciation for Kubrick’s films has only grown in the years since, and the TV adaptation has been largely forgotten. But in 2024, the shouting factory is resurrected Shiny TV series with Blu-ray release. If you like shining people, it's definitely worth a look.
