Although Stalker: Legend of the Regional Trilogy – An enhanced version released on May 20, offering free “fully remade and optimized” upgrades to all owners of all original trilogies, developer GSC Game World is besieged by the commentary bomb movement after players discover Russian sound performances and “Soviet era” landmarks were quietly removed.
Stalker: Legend of the Regional Trilogy – Enhanced versions include a remastered version of Chornobyl (2007) Shadow, Clear Sky (2008) and Pripiat's Call of Pripiat (2009) (2009), with upgraded visuals, next-generation console optimizations, and extended MOD support. However, shortly after release, all games dropped “mostly negative” ratings on Steam as players drowned out the censorship section to complain about blurry visuals and get frustrated with the game Now “Blur, review and revision, (with) added ads.”
“So I have the original and play it to death. If I get an enhanced version, I want to be excited when I launch it, see something different, and we want to rejoin the game. It's not, it's not like that,” Explained a player. “The upgrades to these graphics aren’t enough to excite people, and I feel differently about stripping Russian references – I honestly see the original game as a product of its history, and despite my understanding of the developer’s sensibility, I’m not sure what I’ll get by retuning them.
“So it's free, so I have nothing to complain about, but it's not a huge step compared to the original, and honestly, if you want an enhanced version, you just have to bring things into your inner content or play abnormally. GSC needs to do more here, and some cosmetic tweaks don't really cut it down.”
GSC Game World is a Ukrainian video game studio based in Kiev, although some employees are currently working in Prague after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, temporarily halted Stalker 2 therefore. At least one former GSC developer Volodymyr Yezhov was killed in action.
Despite unofficially acknowledging negative comments, GSC today released an update and patch that will fix unsupported PC hardware and certain consoles, fix issues, and fix “missing geometry on multiple levels.”
“Stalkers, we care about your feedback and are working on the most critical issues,” the team said. “We really want you to make a comeback.” Then it said it will “continue to work on improving the trilogy.”
Players believe that the “missing geometry” refers to the missing Soviet artifacts found in all three games. It is not clear whether the GSC chose or was forced to modify the Soviet portraits, but PC game player The monument/signs that can be confirmed outside Chornobyl itself have at least been removed “in the name of Vi Lenin”. All that remains is “two concrete blocks from it's past”.
The update does not explicitly mention missing audio or blur textures.
“They listen! They listen! They listen!” A happy player cried. reddit. “EE still has some issues, but damn it, glad they are actually committed to fixing the game and don’t ignore feedback.”
A player explain: “This is a million times (S) better solution, rather than just removing it without traces. Both applaud the current decryption work while not censoring anything that existed before.”
“This is a great first step. Hopefully we'll see some other fixes involving popular blur issues and items that don't appear in the hiding place,” additional other.
