David Grivel, the original director of Ubisoft's remake of “Splinter Cell”, returns as game director After leaving Ubisoft in 2022.
Greville himself confirmed the news in a statement Post on LinkedIn (pass gaming radar).
“Today, I'm very, very happy to announce that I'm rejoining Ubisoft Toronto as Game Director on Splinter Cell Remastered!” Grivel wrote, noting that this team and project are very special to him.
Grivel previously worked at Ubisoft for more than ten years, from 2011 to 2022. Prior to his brief stint as director of the Splinter Cell remake, he worked as a game designer on multiple projects, including Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 4, and Far Cry 5.
Grivel rejoined Ubisoft after a spell at Ridgeline Games, where he worked on Battlefield 6's campaign mode until EA abruptly terminated it Closed the studio in early 2024.
The Splinter Cell remake was first announced back in late 2021, but has lingered in the dark for years. During that time, little information about the game has been revealed, although we do know The story of the 2002 original work will be updated “More authentic and believable” to modern audiences.
