The wool is 592 pages, and includes four novellas and a short story called Holston, which is part 1 of the Silo series. Howey also wrote an original article for this version, with the behind-the-scenes details about the Apple TV+ series.

Martian Author Andy Weir has achieved similar success with a serialized distribution strategy, but Weir uses his personal blog to convey the story to readers.

Wool quickly became one of the early massive success stories on the Kindle Publishing platform. This success led to a distribution agreement for the printed version of Wool and eventually won a hit TV series. The Apple TV+ series debuted in 2023 and received positive reviews. The series will end with season 4 and is expected to air by the end of next year. The schedule is likely to change, depending on whether Season 3 will air later this year or early 2026.
