“Scott Pilgrim” animated series is about to be released on Blu-ray, and Amazon has re-listed it for pre-order

Fans of “Scott Pilgrim” will no longer need a Netflix subscription to watch the series' star animated episodes. The Blu-ray version of “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” will be released on December 2 and is now available for pre-order Amazon $25 and $28 at Walmart. Many Netflix originals never get physical releases, so it's great to see Scott Pilgrim Takes Off joining a small group of exceptions that include other popular anime such as Castlevania, arcaneand sonic premier.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: The Complete Limited Series contains all eight episodes of the animated series on one Blu-ray disc. Each episode lasts less than 30 minutes, and the total runtime is 3 hours and 37 minutes.

Fans of “Scott Pilgrim” will be pleased to know that the Blu-ray release includes audio commentary for each episode starring co-creators Brian Lee O'Malley and Ben David Grabinski.

The animated series tells a different story from O'Malley's original graphic novel and live-action film adaptation. Scott Pilgrim disappears in the first episode, and the rest of the show follows Ramona Flowers' investigation into his disappearance.

The film's star-studded main cast reprise their roles in the series, including Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Satya Baba as Matt Patel and Aubrey Plaza as Kim Pine.

Pilgrim Scott Takes Off premiered as a Netflix original series in November 2023, winning widespread praise from critics and long-time fans.

If you'd like to revisit Scott Pilgrim vs. the World before pre-orders arrive, you can purchase The beloved 2010 film is available on 4K Blu-ray for just $16.36 (Reg. $25) at Amazon. Standard Blu-ray and DVD The version is even cheaper. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was directed by Edgar Wright and received critical acclaim for its comic book-style cinematography and visual effects. Unfortunately, the movie didn't do well at the box office, but the series gained a legion of loyal fans. Without the relentless support of fans, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off almost certainly would not have happened. The same goes for the 2021 re-release of fighting game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which was originally pulled from shelves in 2014.

If you haven't read Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series, there are several physical formats to choose from. The original black-and-white series ran from 2004 to 2010, then received a full-color revamp from 2012 to 2015.
