Rockstar fans pay tribute to late D'Angelo, the artist behind RDR2's best song

D'Angelo was a pioneer of the neo-soul movement, releasing three studio albums during his career – his 1995 debut Brown Sugar, 2000's Voodoo and, after a long break, 2014's Black Messiah. Players may be more familiar with the single Unshaken that he later recorded for the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack.

A huge fan of the original Red Dead Redemption, D'Angelo reached out to his contacts at Rockstar to playtest the sequel while it was still in development. Seeing his passion for the game, Rockstar asked D'Angelo to write a song for RDR2's soundtrack, and the collaboration culminated in the single Unshaken.
Unshaken comes into play during RDR2's gameplay, creating the cinematic moment where Arthur Morgan rides back to camp after completing a key story mission. The soulful song created an unforgettable moment in the game's narrative, and Unshaken has since become the most played song on the RDR2 soundtrack.
After news of the artist's death broke, Rockstar paid tribute to him on social media, and many gamers followed suit, recounting their memories of hearing D'Angelo's voice while playing RDR2. Tributes from fans have proliferated on social media, including Comment Various versions of “Unshaken” on YouTube.
