Developer Harmonix confirmed that Rock Band 4 will stand out from Xbox and PlayStation Digital stores this weekend as licenses expire in the lungs.
The news was posted on the game's official discord channel, Its subreddit. Warning was only a few days of action and arrived on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the game.
“On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the rock band is 4 years old,” the team’s statement reads. “What a journey.”
“As this milestone brings a big change: the original license for the core soundtrack is about to expire. So Rock Band 4 will be removed from the PlayStation and Xbox Digital Store. If you already have the game, there is no change and you will maintain full access – you will be able to download the game and still be able to download it to any new, compatible device in the library.
“We are so grateful for the passion this community has shown. From the team, giving you the best experience in the competition, the Super DLC Library and Class Band Sim is a special experience. If you are going to want to grab the last few songs, it’s time.”
As of Sunday, Rock Band 4 and Rock Band 4 DLC songs will be released on release date and will no longer be available for purchase. The discordance in the DLC trajectory has been clarified In advance The Rock Band’s game (released before Rock Band 4) hasn’t been “not yet” out of the way, but the team “will figure them out in the coming months.”
Rock Band's unique approach to DLC allows owners to carry their song library (and the exit of trails from past rock band games) in third-generation console hardware. Since 2007, the method has seen thousands of custom DLCs released for the series, almost all of which can be played in Rock Band 4.
The last DLC of the Rock Band 4 era was released in January 2024 after eight years of content every week. However, news about Axe's current rock band content is imminent, marking a sad moment in the history of the 18-year-old series.
