Developers’ active concept gaming and game management platform Indie.io announced on Gamescom that the legacy of 16-bit action RPG Shrine will be released on Steam on October 7.
If you are not familiar with the legacy of the shrine, it is inspired by classic RPGs from the SNES era and solves a retro look with more modern real-time battles and puzzles. The story takes place on a land called Ardemia, a magical world returned to the threat of evil. It can only be preserved through the sword of the Unity Shrine and eight magical elements scattered around the world.
You play two young heroes, Rio and Rema. Rio is the heir to the sword and the descendant of the last hero to eliminate the ancient evil, while Reima is a mage who desperately seeks the sword. These two evil rises will come together and will look for eight elements before it is too late.
This journey takes you through a vast world filled with dungeons, explore puzzles and secrets to discover. Investigate its nooks and crannies to find craft materials and magical jewels and face the treasure-raising boss to earn statistics items and learn powerful spells.
It's a character-centric story that will force its two heroes to cope with pain, tragedy and loss. It is impossible to conquer ancient evil without sacrifice, we won’t enter the destroyers here, but you will find Rio and Rema willing to successfully complete their pursuit.
You can play the legacy of all shrines in a solo or two-person co-op. From their descriptions, Rio is a melee fighter and Reima is a remote magic user. If you play alone, you can swap them between them at any time, and AI can control the roles you don't actively play. For co-ops, you can go the old-fashioned way, play with friends on the couch, or pair online via Steam Remote Play or Parsec. Either way, there is full controller support and customizable keyboard controls.
If you want to try the legacy of the shrine yourself, it's Free demo Now available on Steam. It contains about two hours of storytelling, which includes two dungeons, two towns and multiple bosses. Just like the full game, the demo can also be played alone or collaborated.
