Tonight's Gamescom opening live broadcast makes us look Resident Evil: Requiem The protagonist Grace Ashcroft, but there are no signs of fan favorite Leon S. Kennedy.
As expected, today’s show brought a deeper focus on Capcom’s upcoming survival horror (Gamescom) (also available on Gamescom). The video shows the action of the game's new star Grace Ashcroft, even though fans are upset about Leon's whereabouts.
After a call from unknown voices, Grace Ashcroft and her mom Alyssa try to escape the hotel they have been staying at because of power cuts and being attacked. We already know what will happen next, because a few years later, Grace is seen as a hotel as an FBI analyst.
Capcom has promised it before Requiem will return the series' “overall narrative” Started 30 years ago, after recent games such as Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, the focus is on events set elsewhere with less connection to past titles. Fans have noticed the return of Raccoon City and quoted Shadowy Umbrella Corporation, while hoping for more, including the first meeting with Leon.
“We’ve been thinking about making Leon the protagonist,” Mr. Nakanich said earlier“But it’s difficult to make horror games around him. He won’t jump off a bucket.
Many fans made this comment, meaning Leon is still in the game, probably a sequence that offers a more action-oriented gameplay, as Nakanishi in particular stopped excluding characters altogether when saying the characters weren't suitable for the horror part.
There is still a lot of time until the final release of “Resident Evil Requiem” on February 27, 2026.
