Resident Evil Requiem Producer Teases Characters “Involved in the Raccoon City Incident” Will Appear in the Game

Resident Evil Requiem Capcom has now confirmed that it will star classic characters related to the Raccoon City incident, but has not confirmed who they will be.
Speculation is rife that fan-favorite shaggy-haired Leon S. Kennedy will return in Requiem to revisit the city where he spent his fateful first days as a rookie cop in Resident Evil 2.
However, so far, Capcom declined to discuss whether fans will reconnect with any familiar faces from Requieminstead choosing to focus its marketing efforts on new protagonist Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Resident Evil: Outbreak's Alyssa Ashcroft.
Now, in an interview well playedProducer Masato Kumazawa finally confirmed, “Yes, some characters from past series will join.”
It’s worth mentioning that Kumasawa responded to a question here that specifically asked about other Outbreak characters and whether Alyssa would appear in Requiem. But Kumasawa went on to mention that characters “involved in the Raccoon City Incident” usually appear. Here is the full quote:
“I would say, yes, some characters from past series will join, but don't go overboard with expectations or hype,” Kumasawa teased. “We can't promise you anything about this, but the only thing I can say is that there will be characters in the game who were involved in the Raccoon City incident.”
Debate surrounding whether or not there will be other characters in Requiem, particularly Leon, has dominated discussion of the game so far, though Capcom seems content to let the speculation continue. While focusing on Grace Ashcroft in trailers and early game previews, publisher It was never explicitly stated that she was the only playable character.
In another interview posted online this week, Xiongze called a specific fan image of Leon wearing an eye patch “fake news” and suggested it was the work of artificial intelligence. But once again the producers didn't simply say that Leon wasn't in the game – at this point, you'd think the developer would simply state that to manage expectations.
Resident Evil Requiem will launch on February 27, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. There's still plenty of time to reveal more.
