The novel regularly switches narrative perspectives, but the main characters pushing forward the plot are teenagers Andy and Roe. Andi is a part-time employee of home videos, and RO is a regular on arcades, and he is obsessed with Andi from a distance.
When the Home Video World acquires a new arcade cabinet, players including RO, including RO, are immediately bound by advanced graphics and gameplay. Although not a gamer, Andi is a programmer with experience in repairing machine boards. After observing the obsession and related behavior of Polybius players, she opened the cabinet to learn more about its technology and code. Thinking the game is dangerous, Andy and RO start looking for the answers they need. Tasker Bay has been going crazy every day.
Polybius did a great job of turning the town of Tasker Bay into an attractive character. Armstrong has taken advantage of many third-person views of Andi and Ro in some way, including the sketchy boss of the world of home video, the town doctor (Andi's mom), the sheriff (Ro's dad), and Andi and Ro Ro's friends. These sub-pictures are scattered throughout the process, making the novel a panoramic structure that shows the different ways Polybius created the pandemonium.
Even those who have mastered among the legendary figures of the city of Polybius before reading the novel, the powerful execution of the story goes far more than those “spoilers”. That said, if you don't know the ins and outs of the city legend, which dates back at least 25 years, you might as well read novels without any other research. I'll stay there.
Best-selling horror author Richard Chizmar compares Polybius to strangers who appear in the bluffs on dust jackets. After reading all 352 pages from two late night marathon courses, I can definitely see the similarities between Taster Bay and Hawkins. Like strangers things, in the midst of massacre and chaos, Polybius felt like horror sci-fi comfort food.
