New data shows PS5 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima sales in Europe are on par with Ghost of Tsushima

The Ghost of Mount Yotei New data shows that sales in Europe are in line with Ghost of Tsushima sales.
It is reported gaming business“Soul of the Rams” debuted at second place on the GSD European rankings, second only to EA's FC 26.
Sony has yet to announce sales figures for Ghost of Yotsuba, which launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. But we now know that it will perform just as well in Europe as its predecessor, which launched exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2020. That said, these are the first few days of its release, as the GSD European charts run until October 5th.
There are many things worth noting here. Ghost of Tsushima not only launched on a console with a larger installed base than the PS5 at the time, but it also launched during a pandemic that set records for video game sales and player numbers as people were forced to stay home during lockdown.
“Game Business” pointed out that “Spider-Man 2” is the largest first-party PlayStation game since the launch of “Spider-Man 2” in October 2023. Hellraiser 2, which launched in February 2024, remains PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling game of all time, selling an incredible 12 million copies in 12 weeks. The question is, as time goes by, can “The Soul of the Rams” ultimately meet Sony's sales expectations? The release of Ghost of Tsushima was a huge success, selling over 13 million copies as of September 2024.
But it reveals just how few new games Sony's first-party studios have released over the past few years. Since Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 hit theaters in October 2023, we've had the aforementioned Hellraiser 2, the disastrous Concord, Team Asobi's fantastic Astro Bot, LEGO Horizon Adventures, MLB The Show 25, and a bunch of remasters. Naughty Dog appears to be skipping the PS5 generation entirely when it comes to brand-new games.
As far as we know, Sony's first-party games in development include Bungie's Marathon, Housemarque's Saros, Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine, Naughty Dog's Intergactic: The Heretic Prophet, Haven's Fairgames, and Guerrilla's multiplayer Horizon game. As the company's live-streaming business falters, a large number of Sony's first-party games have been canceled, including a multiplayer game “The Last of Us”, a live-streaming game “God of War” and another live-streaming game from Bend Studio. Bend's last new game was 2019's Days Gone on PlayStation 4, which launched on PC in 2021.
But how has “The Soul of the Rams” performed in the United States? according to Matt PiscatellaCircana Senior Director Ghost of Yotei ranks 12th among the top 15 games by total weekly active users for the week ending October 4, with 4.4% of active PlayStation players trying it. Coincidentally, Ghost of Tsushima also ranked 12th during its launch week in 2020, with an engagement rate of 4.4% among active PlayStation players.
So it sounds like Ghost of Tsushima will perform just as well as Ghost of Tsushima, at least at the time of release. It will be interesting to see if Sony reveals its results in its upcoming financial report and how sales fare in the coming weeks as we enter the crucial holiday season.
As for developer Sucker Punch’s next plan, in an interview gas chromatographyCo-founder and studio head Brian Fleming said the studio will decide on its next project once the multiplayer add-on Soul of the Tomb Raider: Legend launches in 2026. However, he suggested, Don't expect a series of games from a relatively lean developer – just one project at a time.
