Microsoft published 6 of the 10 best-selling games on PlayStation last quarter last quarter

Xbox just got a great Q2…and probably thanks to PlayStation. Or should I thank Xbox for PlayStation?
date Shared loop analyst MatheadsMicrosoft published six of the ten best-selling games on the US PlayStation consoles in the second quarter of 2025 (April to June).
Most of these games are new. The Forza Horizon 5 ranked second in the quarter (after Elden Ring Nightreign). Elder Scrolls IV: Forgotten: Remake is right behind it. Doom: Dark Ages is in sixth place, with Indiana Jones and The Great Circle ranked 8th.
They join the return title call: No. 4 Black Ops 6 and No. 9 Minecraft.
Sony has only two first-party games in the top 10: Major League Baseball: 4th performance 25, Death Dead 2: No. 7 debut on the beach.
Xbox announced its second quarter revenue, with the news up 10% year-on-year, and Xbox content and services revenue up 13% due to growth in first-party content and Xbox Game Pass (hardware revenue up 22% year-on-year).
It is worth noting that the first 10 games on Xbox last quarter looked a little different. Forgotten: Remake still holds a spot in No. 2, followed by Elder Scrolls: No. 2 online, while Minecraft is on No. 4. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 appears on No. 9.
But Indiana Jones and Doom are not ranked, most likely due to both games entering the game pass (although forgetting is the same). The Forza Horizon 5 also doesn't exist, although this is more likely due to its initial release on Xbox in 2021, compared to its first appearance on PlayStation in April this year.
Regardless, it is no surprise that Xbox’s gaming content revenue has risen this quarter, suggesting that its multi-platform release strategy may work for it after all, as long as it can keep new games the same. That is, because the company owns Hundreds of workers have been fired recently and canceled multiple projects, including Everwild and Perfect darkness.
