Mafia: Old Country Developer Hangar 13 has confirmed that the free ride mode will be part of the free update for all players.
Farear 13 also revealed that “New Events and Gameplay” is part of the free update that will be underway in the “Next Months”.
The developers didn't provide more information, but posted images below to make fun of free riding:
If the old country’s free riding mode works the same as the previous mafia games, it will allow players to explore the game’s environment without any mission objectives. Essentially, it's an opportunity to check out beautiful visions, test vehicles in the garage, find collectibles in the world, and possibly discover some secrets.
Free Riding Back to 2002's Original Mafia: The Lost City of Paradise, letting you explore the 1930s landscape at your own pace. “It’s confusing that there are two versions of free riding in the original game.” Explain when to get to the Mafia for free: The authoritative version.
“There is ‘Free Riding’, a city tour mode with a very simple taxi-type game and ‘Free Ride Extreme’, which adds some crazy challenges. We combine the idea of the two into one mode, so the free ride version of the free version includes both the tour part and some hidden bonus content.”
While publisher 2K hasn't commented on the game's performance yet, the Mafia: Old Country surpassed Steam, PlayStation and Xbox's 800,000 units sold in the first four days Sensor Tower data. PlayStation leads with 48% of total sales, while Steam accounts for about one-third of total sales.
“The strong early sales underscore the enduring appeal of the Mafia IP and validates the studio's choice to provide a linear, narrative-driven experience in movie presentations,” the analytics said. “The stronger performance on the PlayStation may reflect the strategic alignment of the platform with story-focused single player games.” The Mafia: The old country is $50, which will also encourage sales.
IGN's Mafia: Old Country Review Returned 8/10. We say: “The Mafia: Ancient nation is a traditional but effective return, with the linear and tight story-driven format of the original Mafia and Mafia II, which has wonderful eyes and ears for details.”
