Optimus Prime is a highly detailed model of the Autobot leader designed during the G1 era. With 19 points of articulation, you can create a variety of poses by adjusting the limbs in robot mode. This detailed scale model of the LEGO G1-era Optimus Prime is essentially a 13.5-inch action figure. You certainly don't want to get too rough with it, but thanks to its 2-in-1 design, it has more removable components than you'd normally expect from LEGO.
Switching from robot mode to truck mode and back again is a relatively simple process. The conversion may take a few minutes at first, but once you remember the steps, you can have your build converted in under a minute.
In addition to the ability to fully transform, Optimus Prime also comes with a suite of interactive features and accessories, making it one of the most dynamic structures in the LEGO line of adult collectible sets. Brick replicas of the Ion Blaster and Energy Ax can be attached to his hands. You can easily attach or remove his jetpack and swap between two different waist panels. The twin windows covering his chest can be opened to access the Matrix of Leadership artifact. It also comes with an Energon cube and an information plate displayed with the model.
LEGO makes a ton of vehicle display models, so Optimus Prime's “auxiliary” truck mode looks so good that you might mistake it for one No Transform into a robot. When shown as a truck, the Optimus measures 10.5 x 4.5 x 5.5 inches.
Like many other LEGO sets aimed at adults and collectors, Optimus Prime's construction process is more involved than a regular set. The wide variety of traditional bricks and unique brick types make this a set well worth building. Depending on your experience with LEGO sets of this size, it may take you three to six hours to complete.

After two years of talking to himself and converting into a truck for long aimless drives, a friend of Optimus Prime finally joined him in the world of Lego last July. Since then, the 950-piece Bumblebee model has almost always been available for a few dollars less than the $90 MSRP.
Bumblebee doesn't have as much intricate detail as the larger Optimus Prime and Soundwave models, but it's still a beautifully designed building set that accurately recreates the look of the popular G1-era Autobots. It's one of the coolest adult LEGO models available for under $100.
The 2-in-1 build can quickly transform from robot to car. Bumblebee's bright yellow vehicle resembles a 1980s Volkswagen Beetle. In car mode, Bumblebee is 8.5 inches long, not much smaller than Optimus in truck mode. Bumblebee's robot mode is 9.5 inches tall. He has articulated limbs that allow for dynamic poses.
Bumblebee's accessories include a large detachable ion launcher and jetpack. The display panel attaches to a small buildable stand and lists the Bumblebee's power statistics.

The latest Transformers LEGO set marks the arrival of the Decepticons. The Soundwave is a 13-inch display model made up of 1,505 pieces, so its height and number of pieces are roughly the same size as the Optimus Prime.
Like the other two Transformers versions, Soundwave is based on his G1-era appearance. This 2-in-1 structure converts into a speaker rather than a vehicle. Fittingly, it features sound effects and lines of dialogue that can be heard by pressing Soundwave's play button.
Another unique feature here is the buildable Ravage and Laserbeak figures. Like Soundwave, these smaller figures can also shapeshift. After converting Ravage and Laserbeak to tape, they can be stored in Soundwave's tape deck.
A brick information board details the Soundwave's technical specifications (power statistics). There is a micro cassette next to the reference card.
Soundwave launches as a limited-time LEGO Store exclusive on August 4th, before hitting major retailers on October 1st.
