LEGO Marvel Collector’s Edition series debuts iconic Iron Man armor

LEGO’s latest Iron Man display model looks set to usher in a new era of Marvel building sets designed for adults. The Iron Man Mark 3 figure will be the only LEGO Marvel model to have “Collector’s Edition” in its official title. LEGO has done this with some of the big Harry Potter sets, and Star Wars has the Ultimate Collectibles series, so it makes sense that some of the Marvel sets would have similar names.
The Mark 3 figure is arguably LEGO’s most beautiful Iron Man creation to date; at the very least, it’s the most authentic depiction of Tony Stark’s iconic suit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Mark 3 holds an important place in MCU lore as it was the primary armor worn by Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man, the first film in the 2008 Avengers: Infinity Saga. This distinction makes it a first for the LEGO Marvel Collector’s Edition series.
The highly detailed figure is composed of 1,297 pieces and stands over 15 inches tall when attached to the buildable display stand. This model measures up to 8 inches wide and 4 inches deep, depending on pose. It has multiple points of articulation, including the neck, shoulders, waist, wrists, and hands. Lego says the final step in the build is attaching the arc reactor. It might just be a picture, but the gold painted piece looks a little better than the real thing LEGO Iron Man MK4 bust Launched earlier this year.
The model comes with a nameplate that attaches to a stand and an Iron Man LEGO minifigure wearing Mark 3 armor. The minifigure's helmet is removable and has a retractable visor. The Tony Stark minifigure is also newly designed.
The Iron Man Mark 3 Collector's Edition will support the LEGO Brick App's “Build Together” feature, which allows up to four Marvel fans to easily build the new Iron Man figure into a single unit.
