Catan 6th Edition is $34.49 at Amazon (originally $55)but the deal is expected to disappear at midnight Pacific time on October 8th – just a few hours from now – when Amazon Big Deal Days Sale Finish. The $34.49 price is the best price yet for Catan's sixth edition, which launched in April. 6th Edition is the same strategy game you know and love, just with quality-of-life improvements, a fresh coat of paint, and an improved rulebook that will make it easier than ever for new players to learn the basics.

Catan was first launched in 1995, with each new version slightly tweaking its appearance and gameplay. The fifth edition in 2015 marked a major change for the brand, which changed from “Settlers of Catan” to simply “Catan.” This new sixth edition doesn't do anything quite as radical, but it does offer more inclusive adventures and improved eco-friendly design.
Here's what's changed:
- Updated graphics: Now you'll find brighter artwork and a modern design that makes the game easier to parse. This also includes a more diverse set of new character illustrations.
- High-quality environmentally friendly components: Components are made with less plastic and focus on sustainability. You'll also find new textured hexagonal tiles and updated card trays to make it easier to stay organized.
- Smart storage: 5-6 Player Expansion Pack content now fits into the base game box, so you can more easily transport all components.
- Improved rulebook: While the rules are the same, the rulebook has been updated with clearer graphics and game examples to help new players learn the basics.
If you own other Catan extensions, you should be able to use them with the new sixth edition. The rules remain the same in all versions, but you have to deal with conflicting art styles.
