Kirby Sky Riders director Masahiro Sakurai goes head-to-head this week – get ready for 60 minutes of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive

Nintendo has announced a collaboration with director Masahiro Sakurai for the second installment of Kirby Sky Rider Direct. It's set for October 23rd at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm UK time.

That's even longer than the 45-minute Kirby Sky Rider Direct we saw back in August. Nintendo says it expects about 60 minutes of information about upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games.

The August reveal revealed the release date for Sakurai's new game, provided a first look at gameplay, and The legendary developer compares Kirby Sky Rider to Super Smash Bros.-style Mario Kart.

“You might ask yourself if this is basically Mario Kart,” Sakurai said. “You race and battle with familiar characters on tracks with different features, or so they say. Okay, so it's basically like Mario Kart. I even mentioned this when I got the request to make the game. I asked them if they still wanted to do it. But as fans of the original know… the appeal of the game isn't actually the racing!”
