For twenty years, Justin Wong (aka jwong) has been a big figure in fighting gamers who have won 9 EVO titles. Now, Wong joins Basilisk as captain of its new fighting game community department.
In his new position, Wong will recruit Basilisk's team and engage in community activities. Since Basilisk was founded to propose scientific reasons, Wong will also create scientific crossover content for the new fighting game team.
“Mathematics is very important for fighting games,” Wong said in a statement. “I'm happy to join the esports team of science. I'm passionate about finding promising players with a positive mindset and shaping them into the next big thing. I want to see other people after me and help them reach their potential. It would be great if we can find the next world champion.”
“Justin is not only a competitive genius, but a cultural icon and modest leader in the FGC,” added Basilisk co-founder Christopher Botur. “We are extremely proud to have him lead our FGC department and support the incredible work he has done for the community.”
Wong will also promote the latest partnership between Basilisk and the Planetary Society and the Caltech Institute for Quantum Information and Matter (IQIM) to “build a strong bridge between renowned scientific institutions and gamers.”
