The company announced yesterday that Julian Lefay, former chief engineer at Bethesda, announced yesterday that he is stepping out of game development due to the ongoing battle with cancer.

Lefay is often referred to as the “Father of the Elder Scrolls” series, as he joined Bethesda Softworks after his founding in 1987 and led the company as chief engineer through games such as “The Elders Scrolls: Arena”, “The Elders Scrolls: Arena” (e.g. Elders Scrolls: Arena) as the chief engineer. Julianos is the god of wisdom and logic, and one of the nine deities in the Old Scrolls, named after Lefay.
