“Is there anything darker than dying off-screen?” — Games Workshop just killed off two Star Marine 2 characters via a brief story update post, sending Warhammer 40,000 fans into a complete meltdown

Games Workshop has killed off two of Warhammer 40,000's main characters, sparking shock and outrage among Warhammer 40,000 fans. star warrior 2 through brief knowledge updates posted on its website.
last week, Games Workshop has announced that Titus, the main playable character from last year's hit video game Starfighter 2, has been promoted via a cool new trailer for the next narrative expansion set for Warhammer 40,000known as 500 Worlds.
Watch Master Captain Demetrian Titus now once again serves as Captain of the 2nd Company of the Ultramarines, a position he had held before he was detained by the Inquisition on suspicion of heresy following the events of the first Space Marine game.
In the context of Titus' promotion, fans have expressed concerns about the fate of Sevatus Acheran, the former captain of the 2nd Company and the watch leader responsible for the mission (which could never spare enough men) in Star Marine 2. Now we know what exactly happened.
In the legend update post Warhammer CommunityGames Workshop reveals what Acheran did after the events of Starfighter II. Yes, as fans feared, he died.
This is confirmed by the four lore expositions in the article itself, which reveal that Archeran fought a glorious battle against the Genestealer cult on Trigg's hive world. That's it. Archeran is dead. But things got worse.
It turns out that Lieutenant Chairman, one of Titus' teammates in Starfighter 2 and conspicuously absent from Games Workshop's Titus reveal, was with Archeran and also died at the hands of the Genestealer cult. Even though the Chairman is a more prominent character in Starfighter 2, he doesn't even get more cheers.
Here's the thing:
Every Space Marine who lands on Trigg slowly wears out in a series of increasingly desperate battles. When Imperial reinforcements arrived to clear out the last of the cult, they discovered that Acheran, the Chairman, and the rest of their brothers had sold their lives to exterminate countless alien hybrids.
It's fair to say that Warhammer 40,000 fans are more than a little frustrated go through news of the character's death, but how Games Workshop revealed the news. Many have said that Acheran and Chairon should not have been killed off-screen and should have been given their chance in the Starfighter 2 DLC or the confirmed Starfighter 3. At the very least, these characters could be dealt with in a short story, or better yet, a Warhammer 40,000 novel. But no. All they got was some stuff from Warhammer Community articles that most fans won't even read.

“They have a lot of options,” Reddit user Fit_Fisherman_9840 said On Reddit's Space Marines subreddit, the subreddit is currently hotly debated. “Make the Chairman the new LT, or make him the company's Justiciar because of his hatred of traitors. What about Archeran? Make it a dreadnought, for fuck's sake.”
“Acheran and Chailon are so disappointing,” Thinsul said on the Reddit Warhammer 40,000 subreddit. “Killing them off-screen, especially as the Chairman of the Primaris who was born during the Rebellion, is really low. This should happen in DLC or animation.”
“He died while he was alive and couldn't leave anyone behind,” Beaker_person says Acheran's death was told on the 40kLore subreddit. “Is there anything scarier than dying off-screen?” Joking about ChaoticMat.
What does this mean for the other Ultramarines in Starfighter 2? Are they dead too? In particular, fans are curious about Priest Leandros, who is not mentioned to be among those who died alongside Archeran and the Chairman. Maybe he's still out there somewhere, watching Titus curiously as he desperately tries to take back Ultramar.
All of this could be integrated into Starfighter 3 in some way, assuming the sequel takes place after or during the events of 500 Worlds. We know next to nothing about the game, but we can rule out poor Acheran and the Chairman.
