How to Get Free Marvel Rivals Skins During the 1st Anniversary Event

The Anniversary event offers a host of free and paid rewards for you to earn, including the free Legendary Jeff the Land Shark skin. There are also plenty of free units up for grabs, but there's a condition.

How to Get the Jeff the Land Shark Business Shark Skin

Jeff's free commercial shark skin comes from a limited-time bonus event called “Jeff's Break.” When you earn Match XP, you'll earn coins to exchange for items inside the virtual vending machine. There are free coins and paid coins, each unlocking items from different parts of the vending machine. Jeff's skin is in the free section, as is a new element for opponent skins: customizable parts.

Jeff's Break is a 20-day event, but like all event passes, if you purchase the premium version, it's permanently available to you, allowing you to earn rewards at your own pace. The premium version costs 990 Lattice ($10) and also includes Dad's Delicious Reed Mr. Fantastic and the Vanishing Dessert Invisible Woman skins.

Free units, but there's a problem

Units, a free in-game currency that can be used to purchase skins in the store, are also being given away in the anniversary event…sort of. During the event, login rewards will be available for 7 days, totaling 1,500 units. These units are “time limited” and expire at the end of the campaign, which is around December 18th. If you don't use them before then, they will expire and be removed from your account.

This is the first time Marvel Rivals has launched a limited-time version of one of its main currencies. It's an odd choice, but between the Van Dyne store opening on December 3rd (with the Darling Daifuku Psylocke skin) and more anniversary store skins coming soon, you probably won't have a hard time spending these units. The Marvel Rivals store's Black Friday sale will also run until December 3, offering discounts on older skins. While you won't be able to earn all of your login rewards by then, you can put some of those temporary units up for sale.

You can also gain access to an additional 600 common units through the Rival Rallying portion of the event, and you can use a special code to add friends to your team so you can both complete missions and earn points for each other. These rewards are only unlocked when you add friends using a code. There are also units and exclusive titles that can be earned by participating in the Midnight Countdown event on December 6th. You can use the in-game countdown to determine the exact time in your time zone.
