Horizon: Steel Frontier MMO skips PS5 for now

Sony has announced Horizon Steel Frontiers, a new game for mobile devices and PC developed by Guild Wars studio NCSoft. The new entry in the Horizon series is an MMORPG that looks heavily inspired by Capcom's Monster Hunter series – albeit with mechanical monsters rather than organic monsters – and the PC version will be played via NCSoft's Purple platform.
Horizon Steel Frontier is developed in partnership with Horizon studio Guerrilla Games and is set in the Land of the Dead. As a Robo-Hunter, players will be able to customize their character and launch large-scale raids, utilizing an “advanced” combat system to secure resources. A release date has yet to be announced, and the game isn't listed as a PS5 or PS4 version – a first for the series given its PlayStation roots.
Recently, Sony took Chinese company Tencent to court. Light of Motirama game Sony labeled Horizon series 'slave clones'.
Since the first Horizon game launched in 2017, the series has been growing steadily, with expansions, sequels, and spin-off games like Horizon: Call of the Mountain and LEGO Horizon Adventures. Time goes back to 2023, Guerrilla confirms it's working on it “Aloy's next adventure,” the studio is rumored to be developing a multiplayer game that will include Completely different artistic direction Compared to the mainline game.
Outside of games, A Horizon live-action movie is also in the worksis expected to begin filming in 2026.
