Hollow Knight: Silk Song Developer Team Cherry has confirmed that it is developing DLC, but does not know when it will be released.
during an interview BloombergTeam Cherry co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen said that while the developers don't plan to spend “an inordinate amount of time” building new content for Silksong, “we're still pursuing the same development philosophy, which can sometimes extend our timeframe.”
Silksong took seven years to come out, so who knows when this mysterious DLC will be released? But Team Cherry does feature the Iron Assassin in the trailer, a character who has appeared in previous trailers but has yet to appear in Silk Song.
The following is a related exchange with Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier:
Do you want to mix in some smaller updates, like Lifeblood, or are you considering some bigger updates, like Godmaster and Grimm? Do you have a rhythm that you want?
Gibson: Simply put, yes, we consider different things at different scales. This could mean something bigger like Godmaster. Of course, we noticed that people wanted to expand in this way, to be able to go into the Pantheon space and fight bosses. And their numbers are already huge.
Peeling: We are talking about our next project. We don't consider size. We just started making new stuff and working on some bits and pieces. We are still in the world, thinking about what to present to people.
Gibson: It's fun to figure out how to expand an already large game to make sure you don't completely overwhelm new players, because obviously new players will experience new things that integrate very naturally. This seems like the basic experience. Some of that might mean finding ways to hide access, because otherwise it might get huge by the time we're done scaling and developing.
