Since OD is a collaborative project between Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios, it's likely that we'll launch it for the first time on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The good news is that Microsoft has adopted a new multiplication strategy for its first-party releases, so the game may be launched elsewhere as well.
From the story
So far, there are only trailers that exist above the OD. In a real little magazine way, it creates more questions than answers, as the video shows three characters in the game, as the floating heads are on a black background, all participating in some top-notch performances. What's really impressive here is that they're all presented in Unreal Engine 5 and are enhanced by Metahuman – Kojima Productions used Decima Engine for Death Stranding games before – so you can only imagine the look of the game when it finally arrives.
Throughout the trailer, the characters also recite the pangram, and there is one a lot of Opinions on what it means. Is it a masked Zinger, referring to Kojima starting from Konami or is it just pure Gibberish? Who knows, but here is the full quote:
“The hungry purple dinosaurs ate that kind of Zingy Fox, Jabbering Crab and Mad Whale and started selling and being lucky.”
OD gameplay
So what kind of game is OD? The island didn't say muchbut he did mention in an interview that the core concept is “a bit risky” and is difficult to explain. “It's a game, but it's a game that's different. I can't go into too much detail and it's hard to explain,” Kojima said. “But in the game field, it's a little bit of a risky and new challenge for me.”
To be fair, Death Stranding is also hard to explain before it is finally released, as the third-person post-delivery game introduced some crazy ideas at the time. What we know –Thanks to the official summary– OD will be a horror game that will feature performances by actors Hunter Schafer, Sophia Lillis and Udo Kier.
“The Hideo Kojima game for OD explores the concept of testing your fear threshold, and what it means to fear OD – while blurring the boundaries between games and movies,” the description reads. “We also know that Kojima is working with Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele to provide OD with one or two things he knows to create disturbing content.”
