Hideo Kojima denies knowing anything about 'The Matrix' video game promotion

Hideo Kojima responds to reports about The Matrix creators Lily and Lana Wachowski, I once proposed a game idea to Konami while he was working there. Kojima posted on his X account that he was unaware of the conversation and that he was surprised to read reports that they wanted him to work on an adaptation of The Matrix video game.
“I was surprised to see on social media that the Wachowskis had 'offered me a Matrix game project' back in 1999,” Kojima wrote. “In 26 years, no one had ever told me that such a conversation had happened. At the time, we were mutual fans and exchanged emails. The Matrix had not yet been released in Japan, but I had seen it in theaters and previews in the U.S. When the Wachowskis came to Japan to promote, I believe I met them three times.”

Kojima explained that the offer to develop the Matrix video game was not mentioned at the time and that he was busy developing Metal Gear Solid 2 at the time. “If someone told me, maybe there would be a way to make it work,” Kojima added. in the initial interview time extensionBergsteser recalled a meeting with the Wachowskis and former Konami Digital Entertainment CEO Kazumi Kitakami, but Kojima said he did not attend and returned to Konami headquarters after the discussion.
