Ghost of Yotei's US launch 'very good… not amazing, not bad', analysts say, but the real test will come in the coming months

The Ghost of Mount Yotei does much the same as its predecessor, ghost of tsushimaIn terms of U.S. sales, one analyst revealed.
Sony has yet to announce global sales figures for Ghost of Yotsuba, which launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. So we're left with regional data provided by sales analysts, who can't confirm hard sales figures but can compare release performance as a percentage difference.

As Piscatella points out, there is an important context we need to understand when making comparisons. “In July 2020, with everyone at home, gamer numbers and engagement grew significantly,” he said. “At that time, the PS4 installed base was about 20% higher than the PS5 is today.”
“I look at it and say…it's somewhere between good and great, all things considered,” Piscatella continued. “But it's still early.”
For now, the real test of Ramos' commercial performance will be how well it performs in the coming weeks and months. We certainly don't know what Sony's internal goals are for the game. It might perform poorly, perform well, or exceed Sony's expectations. The release of Ghost of Tsushima was a huge success, selling over 13 million copies as of September 2024, so Ghost of Tsushima still has a lot of work to do.
“It was a perfect launch in the United States anyway,” Piscatella concluded. “Not amazing, not bad either.”
