Game Boy Camera is making an informal comeback on smartphones

Nintendo's Game Boy Handheld has several interesting accessories throughout its long life, and a developer is looking to bring back its iconic camera, but with a modern twist. Riley Testut is the developer behind the Delta emulator for iOS – announcing the Delta Camera Standalone app, which is designed to mimic the unique aesthetics of Game Boy Camera.
Later this year, it is currently available Testut's Patreonthe app allows users to take low-resolution monochrome images, but has the “features you expect” in modern camera applications. This means you can use several options, exposure, brightness and contrast with the app to capture late 90s-style images.

The gaming camera was an interesting device when it was launched because it was still in its infancy in digital photography and it predated smartphones with built-in cameras in a few years. The camera is connected to the ink cartridge that is plugged into the game boy and has a 128 x 128 pixel CMOS sensor that can take pictures in a grayscale four-color palette.
If you want to splurge, there is even a printer that can be used in conjunction with the camera – the imaginative game boy printer – but the quality is not the best since the device uses hot paper for printouts.
