fortnite Developer Epic Games has announced that 10.5 million players have tuned in to watch Zero Hour, the highly anticipated live event where the world's biggest franchise heroes emerge to save the world in Avengers: Endgame style. Online, at least 3 million more people watched the event via streaming platforms.
Iron Man, Superman, Godzilla, and the K-pop Demon Hunter are just some of the characters featured at the event, where Fortnite's best come together to defeat the game's newest big bad, The Dark One. Many of the characters appearing in the event have been teased in advance, but exactly what will happen is yet to be determined. In fact, despite multiple rounds of battles with Kong and Star Destroyers, the Dark Presence still stands.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the event was how much Fortnite celebrated its own beloved lore, with the dark being ultimately defeated thanks to Jones' final decision to summon the game's evil cube.

Fans are now sharing gameplay from the event and have discovered a number of Easter eggs, such as characters from Steal the Brainrot appearing in the background and Hatsune Miku joining the battle while sitting on Godzilla's head. I particularly like this fan creation that overlays the Avengers: Endgame soundtrack over Zero Hour's “portal” sequence:

There's plenty more here for Fortnite lore fans to digest. As Hope herself questions, who is piloting the Mecha Captain? (Member of The Seven?) Will the destruction of the Cube lead to the reappearance of its mothership? (Yes, see below!) How will Epic Games rise to the top of the list next year?
With the gameplay portion of the event complete, some players are reporting that their games suddenly crash as unexpected cutscenes begin to play. You can watch the full movie below, which quickly sums up Fortnite's now-apparently restored original storyline and makes it clear that the game is returning to its focus on the heroic Seven and their battle against a cube civilization called “The Last Reality.”
After that, players can quickly learn what's next in the game (yes, Epic Games couldn't help but make a 6-7 joke in the process). Fortnite Chapter 7 will begin with our heroes enjoying life on a new map themed to the American South. There are Fortnite versions of Hollywood and Area 51 to explore, while new gameplay variations include wingsuits and rideable Reboot Vans. Everything looked cool until finally the realistic mothership did show up (and promptly blew up Fortnite's beloved battle bus!)
then after ThatFor those who are still in touch, Fortnite is truly over. The game has been offline for several hours now, and Chapter 7 will be back online later tonight.
