“For other Fallout games in the future, you know, obviously I can't talk about those right now, but I will say that there's a bit of a rush to get them done, or we need to come up with something different than what we did in 76… We feel like we don't need to rush anything,” he said. “The Fallout TV show fills a certain void in terms of series and storytelling.”

The last mainline Fallout game was Fallout 4, released in 2015. The game's DLC content was steadily released on PC and consoles over the next year, and in 2018, Bethesda launched a multiplayer-centric spin-off called Fallout 76. Still, Howard doesn't back down when it comes to his desire to release a slew of video games. For him, it comes down to being careful with Bethesda's franchises.

“It completely satisfies people's desire for a new mainline single-player game,” he said. “Look, these things take time. I think it's not a bad thing for people to miss out on stuff. We just want to get things right and make sure that everything we do in a series, whether it's The Elder Scrolls or Fallout or now Star Trek, is a meaningful moment for everyone who loves these series as much as we do.”
