“Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s massive iteration of what started with the Souls series, bringing challenging combat into an incredible open world where we have the freedom to choose our own path,” Mitchell Salzman said in his commentwe insist on this.
It's worth noting that this version doesn't include the huge expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, which is big enough to be its own game – and even more challenging. We also gave it a 10 out of 10 in our review. Unfortunately, the Shadow of the Eldtree version of Elden Ring is no longer on sale anywhere.
If you're looking for a game to play with friends, Nightreign is well worth checking out. It condenses Elden Ring's combat into a three-player hybrid between roguelike and battle royale, bringing you closer and closer to challenging bosses.
It's 36% offPS5 and Xbox prices are down to $34.99.
Mitchell gave Nightreign a 7 out of 10 in his reviewsaid, “Elden Ring Nightreign is one of the best examples of three-player co-op play when it's played exactly the way it's designed to be played – but it's harder to do that than it should be, and the single-player game is poorly balanced.”
Subsequent patches have smoothed out these jagged edges, but it's still best played with a few headsets.
