Dune’s best PC settings: Awaken to eliminate colon and improve FPS

Dunes: Awakening Finally launched, even after a long development cycle and various Alphans and Betas, PC performance is not the place many players want to be. Even if you have a top-notch machine with modern hardware with arms and legs, you'll likely see FPS drops, stutters, and crashes while playing on your PC.

While there is nothing you can do about a crash other than updating the driver, you can mitigate Stoke and improve overall FPS by adjusting specific graphics settings. To view these settings in the dunes: Awakening, check out the guide below.

The best PC settings for dunes: Awakening

First, before you try to play Dune: Awakening, you want to make sure you are at least satisfied Minimum requirements Overview by the developer. If one or more of your PC parts don't meet these requirements, then if you can even get the game started, you'll have a very difficult time on Arrakis.

If you make sure that your PC meets the requirements you want to play, start the game and navigate to the settings menu. Here, select the Graphics tab and start browsing all settings from top to bottom. You will notice that the game has automatically discovered the settings for you based on the hardware configuration of your PC.

However, if you run these settings, you will end up with a lot of stuttering and FPS immediately after entering the world. To make sure this is not implemented, check out the suggested settings below:

In all these settings, you need to make sure you have some form of upgrade enabled, because Dune:Awakening runs much better when you have DLSS or FSR on. Also, if you have a compatible GPU, you should also make the framework generate. While this does add a slight input latency, it is almost not noticeable in MMORPG, and dozens of extra frames make up for this.

You also need to make sure you limit FPS to the maximum refresh rate of your monitor. Limiting FPS can make your PC run the framework horizontally and may be the main factor in stuttering you can experience. To do this, make sure to turn off VYSNC as this will make your game smoother overall.

The rest of the settings are quite basic. You want the shadows to be as low as possible, no reflection of any type needs to be too high, and if you want the game to look good, the texture may be slightly higher than the other settings. Of course, if you don't care about the graphics, or want to squeeze out all the FPS from your PC, go each setting to its lowest value and see how far it brings.

Other ways to improve FP and colon deletion

If you want to go a step further in PC performance, you can do other settings in Dune:Awakening. However, these settings are not in the game, but are done through the NVIDIA control panel. If you are an AMD user, you won't have access to most of these tools, but you can still check how GPU software can be used to improve performance.

As for all NVIDIA users, please open or download the NVIDIA Control Panel program. From here, follow these steps to run Dune: Awakening as smoothly and effectively as possible:

• In the NVIDIA control panel, go to “Manage 3D Settings”
• Then, click Program Settings at the top of the menu and click Add
• A box will pop up and click Browse from here. This will present the File Explorer and you need to find the location of Dune:Awakening's .EXE file (see the Steam folder on the drive folder where you downloaded the game)
• Once the .EXE file is found, select it and add it to the NVIDIA control panel
• Now you can scroll down the game's program settings and make some changes:
  • Power Management Mode: More preferred maximum performance
  • Texture Filtering – Anisotropic Sample Optimization: Close
  • Texture Filtering – Quality: High Performance
• Once these changes are applied and the Dune is restarted: Awakening, exit the NVIDIA Control Panel

With the best settings and NVIDIA control panel tweaks, your game should be smoother and have less colon. But Funcom developers will eventually need to release some patches in the dunes: wake up that patch to further fix PC performance, so you can go back to use higher settings without such a big effect.
